The Office of the Public Guardian (“the OPG”) announced last week that refunds are being offered to those who may have been charged more than was necessary when making their application.
If you applied to register a power of attorney between 1 April 2013 and 31 March 2017 you may be entitled to a refund.
The refund system has been set up on line and can be accessed directly by the pubic, therefore you should claim the refund personally and not contact your adviser who helped you prepare the power of attorney.
You can find further information and make your application for a refund on the Government website here.
You can also call the dedicated refund service helpline on 0300 456 0300.
If you would like to discuss any other areas of Lasting Power of Attorney please contact Julie Burgess or call us on 01924 291122.
